Cook County Assessor's Office Intern Program is a Win-Win for both Students and the Assessor's office: September 28, 2016: The Cook County Assessor's office is in its sixth year of helping Chicago-area students acquire real work experience through internships.

This program has continually been enhanced to include additional sponsoring agencies whereby students gain valuable experience in learning how to communicate, interact with others, help taxpayers and dress for the workplace.

The sponsoring agencies pay the students for their work and the CCAO receives valuable assistance. The CCAO is the only county agency currently participating in the intern program.

Community Outreach Programs and The Assessor - 2016 marks a record number of outreach events held by the Cook County Assessor's Office, 145, compared to the previous high of 126, set last year.

Assessor Joseph Berrios has been committed to expanding the outreach program since he was elected in 2010. This program provides service to people who work during the day, as sessions are after working hours. It also helps those who have more in depth or specific questions on how to file appeals, wish to check exemptions and learn about refunds.

Special workshops are designed for senior citizens and veterans and take place in all 38 townships throughout Cook County at some point during the year. You can find the outreach calendar on this site under "Assessor Berrios" and at www.cookcountyassessor.com .

The 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade, October 3, 2016. Joe enjoyed participating in the 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade. One of the most colorful parades in Chicago, this event celebrates Mexican independence with floats, mariachi bands and dancing in the streets. Cook County's Hispanic communities know Joe can be counted on to share in its pride, values and goals.  

The Cook County Democratic Party Voter Drive, September 19, 2016. On September 19, 2016, The Cook County Democratic Party announced its voter registration drive for the November 2016 election. Chairman Joe Berrios, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth, City Clerk Susana Mendoza, States Attorney Kim Foxx and Chair of Voter Registration Committee and 35th Ward Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa were on hand.

The Pakistan Independence Day Parade: September 7, 2016: Joe has long been a friend to the Pakistani community. The Cook County Democratic Party Honors Tom Balanoff and Robert F. Martwick: October 13, 2016: Joe Berrios, Chairman of the party and co-chairs Chicago Mayor Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle honor labor leader Tom Balanoff from SEIU Local 1 and the longest-serving suburban Committeeman, Robert F. Martwick. Among those present were other party leaders, candidates and Democrats from all over the county and state.
